{"id":258,"date":"2020-07-19T14:23:39","date_gmt":"2020-07-19T14:23:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.csf.org.cy\/?page_id=258"},"modified":"2022-08-20T19:18:16","modified_gmt":"2022-08-20T19:18:16","slug":"history","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.csf.org.cy\/?page_id=258&lang=en","title":{"rendered":"History"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 class=\"titles\">A short history of the Cyprus Skating Federation<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cyprus Skating Federation was founded in 1992 in Nicosia, where the only ice rink was located.<br \/>\nThis became the starting point for a rich sports activity, both in Cyprus and abroad.<br \/>\nIn 1995 it became a member of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.isu.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">International Skating Union (ISU).<\/a><br \/>\nIn 2002 the Cyprus Skating Federation temporarily suspended its sports activities due to the absence of an ice rink.<br \/>\nThe operation of ice rinks in 2009, gave the opportunity for reactivation of the Cyprus Ice Rink Federation with three Associations \/ Clubs and with the late Andreas Georgiades as President. Since then, the efforts for development and promotion of figure skating have intensified and the Federation has managed within a short time of its operation to participate worthily in international competitions.
